Westmanstown Gaels 5-2 v Lucan Sarsfield 2 - May 24th 2010

Westmanstown Gaels under 15 girls travelled to the 12th Lock to take on local rivals Lucan Sarsfield in this under 15 girls division 2 league game.  With both sides have the bare 15 it was going to be tough fair contest.

The team continued with some of the new positions which were successful against St Jude’s and these continued to be successful.

Kelly McNamara continued to flourish in her new full forward role scoring a total of 3-2 for the game, something to give her watching brother something to think about.

Lucy Martin kept up her high standard of play scoring the Gaels first goal of the game and added a point at the end of the half.

Rachel O’Shea, Sophie Witherill and Clare Carroll all added to Westmanstown Gaels scores.

However it was the team’s performance that was the winner on the night.  All fifteen, from Hazel Doyle in goals to the full forward line, played with determination and commitment and this is what allowed them to finish ahead in this thoroughly enjoyable game which was well supported from both teams.

This team performance coming on the back of a great win against St Jude’s will set the girls up nicely for their next match against Ballinteer St Johns in the coming weeks.
